CHILDREN'S SUMMER MUSICAL 2009
Are We There Yet? The Story of Moses and the
Exodus
On Monday, June 22, thirty-one children, their parents and
approximately ten “guides” embarked on a musical journey through the
book of
Exodus.
We sang songs, memorized dialogue and learned choreography. We
painted sets, made jewelry, assembled crafts, deciphered codes and
looked in the Bible for answers to important questions. In the
process we learned how God used Moses to bring the Children of
Israel out of slavery in Egypt, how they crossed the Red Sea when
fleeing the Egyptians, and how God directed them to Mount Sinai
where they received the Ten Commandments. We learned the Ten
Commandments and we talked about how God still goes with us on our
journey of life. How God loves us, forgives us and will always go
with us.
Thanks to all the parents who made it possible for their children to
take the trip with us. Thanks to Ruth Smith, Tiffani Paynter and
Emily Duff for helping with scenery, costumes, crafts and so much
more. Thanks to Laura Battle, Kara Kascamp, Michele Gilmore, Odette
Godwin. Thanks also, to fellow “guide” David Beussman for all of
his work and guidance, musical and otherwise, all week long.
We presented the result of our week-long journey in the June 28th
Sunday morning worship services at 9:30 & 11:00 – the Tom Long Allen
Pote musical,
ARE WE THERE YET?
Please enjoy the pictures of our journey.
