WHAT A SUNDAY LAST SUNDAY!!  The thunder thundered, lightning flashed, heavy rains fell, hail came down, streets were flooded, sidewalks became streams of rushing water!  What a prelude and wake up call nature provided for our Building our Future – Trusting God Capital Campaign Commitment Sunday!  Was that good or bad timing?

Someone once said “Timing is everything.”  There may be some truth to that, but I believe God is more important and more powerful than timing in the events of our lives.   True, Sunday was not a “high attendance” Sunday!  In fact, it was the lowest attendance we have had this year, thanks to the heavy storms blowing through Lakeway during Sunday morning worship times.  But still, many came to worship God despite the torrential downpour and they experienced the joy of worshiping God with special music by our choirs, a special musical duet and solo, special testimonies by two of our church families and the joy of being with brothers and sisters in God’s family.

This stormy Sunday was also the culmination of an extremely busy time as our church  focused much energy and effort on our Building our Future – Trusting God Capital Campaign.  It was our official Commitment Sunday when members were given the opportunity during the closing moments of worship to turn in pledge cards with the amount they were led by God to give over the next three years in support of our building program.  God’s people who gave, gave generously!  Although pledges and gifts of cash continue to arrive in

the mail or by members dropping them off at the office, our current total unrestricted pledges as of Friday noon, May 2, 2008 is $2,742,894!  THANK YOU GOD for each and every person who has pledged their financial support to You and our Building our Future – Trusting God Capital Campaign.

Another huge and heartfelt Thank You belongs to all those who made this campaign possible.  It is not possible to list every person who so willingly gave their time and effort.  (How I wish we could!)  But it is right to recognize those who stepped forward in leadership roles.  With that said, a huge THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS to:  Campaign Co-Directors – Warren & Diane Terry and Ernie & Jill Steinle; Leadership Event Team – Rick & Pam Rhodes, Steve & Leslie Jones and Rodney & Debbie Gamble;  Prayer Support Team – Bob & Joyce White, John & Freddie Scott, Max & Doris Henry and Joyce Ranous;  Media Team  - Terry Priestap & Thurman Payne;

Administrative Team – Carol Gans;  Youth/Children’s Team – Beverly Leonard, Heather Ginsberg, Carla Swenson and Melissa Greenwell; Small Groups Team – Richard & Nancy Hartmann, Paul & Chris Northedge and Tom & Mary Ann Rogstad;

Follow-Up Team – Linda Marks.

And last but not least, a lady who’s tireless and creative efforts supported every team and area of the campaign – Nancy Keetch!

And we cannot forget the stellar help of members of our Social committee and Building and Grounds committee.

Thank You Heavenly Father for the generosity of every person who has given to exalt Your Name and Your Gospel!  May You bless them for their faithful and cheerful giving!  May You bless them as they have responded in faith and in trust in You!
